22nd June Jon has been busy
developing his 1m size r/c dlg models. Click the photo for his latest, the
"Frenzy", a posting on the BARCS Bulletin Board.
An interesting cross over from free flight is that Jon said "the
airfoil is Brian Eggleston's BE5017VN, a free flight catapult airfoil which
feature his 'vortex nose' turbulator."
20th June "New
Tricks" the excellent, latest, PMFC magazine is available for members, the
printed versions have been posted and I have just sent the on-line details to
those on that mailing list. Let me know if you haven't received your e-mail.
If anyone was expecting a paper copy and doesn't receive one or has
received one and is happy with just the online version, would they please
contact John within the next week. The magazine will be available to
non-members in just over a month's time.
If you entered the Nationals you will have received a results
list by now. If there is anyone without the 7 page document and would like a
.pdf copy let me know.

14th June Recently received an interesting note from
Denis Ogelsby, author of
"Understanding Aerofoil Data for R/C Soarers."
Denis said "Remember young Michael Selig? He designed and tested
new aerofoils suitable for R/C gliders in the 80s and 90s. They were successful
and widely adopted."

12th June Made good use this morning of the the
Metcheck UK 5 Minute Rain Radar which gives a track of showers during the
previous 3 hours. The general forecast had showers later in the day but it was
raining hard when I got up. A look at
www.metcheck.com/UK/radar.asp showed a small but dense shower
area moving through, with nothing following. This worked well as by the time I
got out the rain had stopped, very little wind together with very little lift
as well....
10th June At the Nationals I was parked close to the
Space Modelling launch area and whilst I heard several launches I never
actually saw a model....

27th May Up until now 2016 "Flying Aces" details were
available in Meetings/Events on the left but with the Nationals pending it
seemed a good idea to have the information on this page. Full details in the

At present XCWeather lists Saturday as the best bet for the
coming weekend. Seems to be double figures for wind strength the whole time
though.
25th May BMFA Free Flight Nationals at Barkstone this
coming weekend. Don't forget that the free flight scale events, normally
flown at the "Power Nationals" are this year being flown in May, not
August.
23rd May Bryan spotted this

Model Products and whilst his Spring Newsletter is more R/C than most of PMFC

1st May Thanks to Mick for the new set of front page
photographs, these showing what PMFC was up to in April.
John asked me to tell you that:- "No flying took place at the
first club f/f comp, so it now reverts to best four scores out of five events,
the next of which will be on Friday 20th May at 4pm, and will include the first
of the three Bernie Nichols Trophy precision events for rubber power, which
will follow at 7pm."
22nd April No further web site updates until after
30th April.
Three competition days over the weekend and on Tuesday, check
out Meetings/Events on the left for more information on the London Gala,
although this one is on Salisbury Plain. Much closer to home it is the
first of the PMFC Ferry Meadows Free Flight Competitions on Tuesday 26th. Again

20th April The May Aeromodeller has been
out for a couple of days now and contains a good article from John on "The

10th April A bit of a treck but at least one PMFC
member is going to the BMFA London Gala is on 23/24 April on Salisbury

Closer to home; today is the last of the Bushfield Indoor
Meetings of the year, this one is organised by the BMFA indoor scale FFTC as a
trimming session for the Indoor scale FF Nats which are on May 1st.
Also today is the 3rd Area Free Flight Meeting of the year.

8th April Bryan passed on the information about the
latest Gildings Auction at Market Harborough of "Aeromodel Engines, Kits and
Engineering Equipment". This auction will include the effects of the late
Ron Smith a PMFC and Grantham club member.

2016", Actual sale on Monday 2nd May 2016, with viewing on the previous
Saturday.

4th April Radio Control Micro
World, a US based on-line subscription magazine, is selling digital copies
of Aeromodeller, so far 240 copies from 1950's and 1960's for $75. Click the

Seeing a group of Aeromodeller covers reminded me that the
current Aeromodeller is selling "Vintage Aeromodeller A3 Cover Art Work."

25th March The
weather takes a turn for the worse after today, so here is something to read
later in the weekend.

23rd March Don't forget the Good Friday Fly In at

Talking of comps, I received the following this morning from Ken
Faux:- "For those of you who have yet to complete your FF Nats entry, you
can use the attached fillable pdf NEF. It is very easy to complete on your
computer using Adobe Reader. When you have filled all of the relevant boxes
print the completed form. Alternatively, you may simply print it and complete
by hand. The instructions for submission are contained on the form. "

Winter but a couple of recent e-mails mentioned their "rental" system with

19th March A little late with this reminder but there

The club have a new web site, click

particularly pleased to see that the book "Ray Malmström 60 years of
IVCMAC" is now online, which I don't remember from the previous web site,

Farman for some snap shots at the indoor session last Sunday - just to give an
idea of what was happening.
16th March An enjoyable indoor
session at Bushfield on Sunday and in the general chat that accompanies the
flying I discovered that the low wing rubber model Marc Ashby is holding on one
of the current batch of front page photographs is not a Ladybird but a Red
Admiral.

Carbon Art Productions continues to expand on his series of videos for the R/C

10th March A regular at the
Bushfield Indoor meetings is Mike Bowthorpe who has told Brian about the

27th February "International
classes for free flight scale model flying competitions around the world." Is
the title of the first CIAM Flyer of 2016, it was written by Stan Mauger who
provides the excellent monthly "Slipstream" from Aukland New Zealand, featured
in the Flyer is a picture of Ricky Bould flying at Ferry Meadows.

23rd February At a recent club meeting
Ian chatted about his Radio DT system and was asked to write it up for the

Glad to say moving was not too traumatic and BT came up trumps
with transferring the broadband connection, so it is business as usual.

Not sure when the next update will be, I am moving today and
tomorrow and it will depend on how quickly things get unpacked and whether BT
makes the change correctly.

10th February I had an

4th February Don't forget indoor flying at Bushfield

29th January The schedule and date for this years
Flying Aces meeting has now been fixed. Ferry
Meadows, Peterborough (click for a location map) on Sunday 4th
September from 9am until 5pm.

and there is now a "Tailless Rubber Duration" class. Watch out on 31st January

January Thanks to Stan here is the latest "Slipstream", click the logo
for a .pdf download. An international edition this one. Those flying at
Bushfield on 2nd January were pleased to meet Ricky from New Zealand and he has
written an article, with photographs about the session. Ricky also has a report
on one of the Totton events near Southampton, sponsored by Flitehook. Then on
page 15 there is some news from Chris in Canada, with pictures and a good tip
for storing LiPos when flying in frosty weather.
All this is backed with scale and indoor news from their own
Aukland Model Aero Club.
24th January Two full size rescources that have
cropped up in the past couple of days. The first via
Chris at Soo Modellers in
Canada is:- The Aircorps
Library, watch the video towards the bottom for a full explanation. An
expensive option though.
From the February edition of Radio Control Soaring Digest
comes:- Aviation Week & Space Technology Aviation Week & Space
Technology launched its 100-year digital archive on 6th January in
collaboration with Boeing, the sponsor of the archive. Both companies trace
their roots to 1916. The archive includes 4,500 issues and nearly 500,000 pages
of articles, photos, and advertising. It can be seen at

20th January There is a thread on the BARCS Forum about Aeromodeller
Magazines, with various contacts as well as the information that there are
complete sets of the magazine held at the "British Library and at the RAeS
library at Farnborough" as well as "a complete set (including a number of
duplicates) in the BFMA library in the Leicester Office."

of AMAC. We see Slipstream, their bulletin, on a regular basis as it is passed
on by Stan Mauger, the editor. Less far travelled were Garry Flack and Gordon
Hannah from Impington.
